The Brief

Design a point-of-purchase display that could ship directly to board shops with a tail wing mounted to it — turning a small, technical component into a compelling standalone retail object that communicates modularity, performance variation, and the tactile appeal of the product.

The Process

Through several rounds of iteration and close collaboration with a fellow designer, we developed a display form that does double duty: it physically showcases the wing's geometry at the right angle, and it carries the product copy that would otherwise live on a spec sheet no one reads. The resulting shape was refined until the display itself felt like a considered object — something a shop would want on the counter, not tucked behind the register.

The magnetic format means the copy panel ships attached, stays put on the shelf, and travels cleanly through the retail supply chain without separate assembly.

The Outcome

A retail-ready display system that positions tail wings as intentional purchases — helping shops educate gear-focused customers about the feel and performance differences between wing options, and reinforcing the broader message that foil setups are modular, tunable, and worth exploring deeply.
