Coastal Pen Tray

Designed to keep your tools within reach.

A university project brief called for a desk object. Rather than designing something decorative, I set out to solve a real friction point: the disorganized surface of someone who sketches both by hand and on a tablet. The result is the Coastal pen tray, a minimal aluminum organizer designed to keep drawing tools, a stylus, and cables within reach without cluttering the workspace.

Design a desk object that increases efficiency for a designer working across both traditional and digital sketching. The constraints were portability, simplicity, and a material language consistent with modern creative workspaces. The target user was someone with an iPad, an Apple Pencil, and a set of drawing pens who switches between them constantly.
